  Purpose of the job

The Regional Depots Controller will oversee and manage the accounting activities for approximately 10-15 depots, ensuring compliance with SADAFCO's financial policies and procedures. This role includes direct supervision of a team of Depot Accountants, ensuring their performance aligns with company standards and objectives. The position involves cash management, financial reporting, internal controls, and supporting business operations with financial insights, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and efficiency across depot operations.

    Key Accountabilities

    Cash and Bank Management

• Monitor and reconcile daily cash/cheque deposits into banks and ensure alignment with ERP records.
• Oversee cash-in-safe operations, ensuring compliance with established SOPs across all depots.
• Analyze discrepancies in cash collections and escalate issues as needed.

     Sales and Accounts Receivable Oversight

• Verify daily sales transactions against ERP and sales systems, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation.
• Oversee daily collection activities from sales personnel and customers, ensuring alignment with policies.
• Follow up on overdue accounts to ensure collection in coordination with AR team
• Perform regular balance confirmations for local customers and follow up on overdue accounts in coordination with the accounts receivable team.

     General Ledger and Financial Reporting

• Ensure accuracy of journal entries, sales invoices, and documentation across depots.
• Monitor the accountability of sales personnel and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Provide monthly depot financial performance reports, including sales, expenses, and inventory insights.

      Inventory and Fixed Asset Management

• Conduct random and periodic inventory checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with book records.
• Supervise inventory reconciliation and physical audits of expired products before disposal.
• Collaborate with depot staff to maintain control over pallets and other physical assets.

      Internal Controls and Compliance

• Implement and enforce internal controls to prevent inaccuracies and inefficiencies in accounting processes.

        Ensure all financial transactions comply with VAT requirements and internal audit standards

•  Conduct market random checks on unpaid invoices and oversee compliance with promotion/discount policies.

      Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Depot Accountants, ensuring they adhere to accounting policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training needs for the team.
• Ensure timely communication and collaboration between Depot Accountants

Job Requirements

·         Educational level: minimum bachelor’s degree in e.g. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Master’s degree preferred

·         Specific diploma/ courses: e.g. professional qualification like CFA, CMA, (A)CA, SOCPA is preferable

·         Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial roles, of which a minimum of 2 years of experience in a FMCG company

·         Basic knowledge of financial analysis, costing principles, and financial planning and budgeting principles procedures

·         Experienced with working on projects with deadlines

·         Strong computer skills including Excel (expert), PowerPoint, and business intelligence tools and other reporting and administration systems, e.g. ERP systems like SAP

·         Languages: Fluent in English is a must. Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage
